Overview


POSITION PURPOSE

Provide clean linens, washcloths, blankets, and bedspreads for guest rooms as needed.



Responsibilities

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Sort, spot treat, wash, dry, and fold linen, towels, washcloths, blankets, and bedspreads according to company standards.
  • Soak stained or contaminated articles and process in de-staining solution.
  • Keep the dryers clean, free of lint and the laundry room clear of hazards and stocked. Reports any safety concerns to supervisor immediately.
  • As requested, strip guest rooms of soiled linens, towels, washcloths, blankets, and bedspreads.
  • Ensure washers and dryers are filled appropriately to produce efficient production of needed linen supplies.
  • Sorts and counts articles to verify quantities on laundry requisitions.
  • Reports any inventory damage or shortages to supervisor immediately.
  • Assists guests with linen exchanges and questions as may be needed.
  • Cleans and organizes laundry room prior to departure for the day.
  • Maintains productivity standards on a daily basis.
  • Must be willing to “pitch-in” and help co-workers with their job duties and be a team player. 

 

NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • As requested, replenish the stock on housekeeping carts.
  • Assist in cleaning guest rooms or other duties as may be needed.

* Must be willing to work overtime without notice as needed to meet performance standards.


PERFORMANCE STANDARDS

  • Regularly achieve cleanliness standards.
  • Have ample supplies of clean linens and bedding ready when needed.
  • Produce on average, 10 rooms of clean laundry per hour.

WORK ENVIRONMENT


Frequent movement between heated and/or air conditioned environment and outdoor environment.  May be exposure to room temperatures reaching 90º within the laundry room.

 

Qualifications

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS


a)    Knowledge, Skills and General Abilities

  • Communicate in writing, and orally in English or Spanish.
  • Ability to count and organize laundry room items.

b)    Physical Abilities

  • Operate industrial washer and dryer.
  • Stand continuously for up to eight (8) hours per day.
  • Maneuver a laundry cart in corridors and walkways.
  • Lift up to 25 pounds to waist/chest level to load washer and dryers.

c)    Mental Abilities

  • Ability to work independently, with minimal or no direction and maintain a high degree of productivity and quality.

*Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, employees may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the business. In addition, attendance at all scheduled training sessions and meetings is required.


QUALIFICATION STANDARDS

  • Previous housekeeping experience an asset.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and problem solving abilities.
  • Responsible and reliable.
  • Ability to work cohesively as part of a team with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to focus attention on guest needs, remaining calm and courteous at all times.
